Help today, not next week

Dental emergencies don't wait for convenient appointments. We keep slots open every weekday for urgent cases — and our registered patients can reach our on-call dentist any time, day or night.

When you call, we'll triage the issue over the phone first. Most emergencies are treatable in a single visit: settling the pain, securing a broken tooth, draining an abscess or re-cementing a crown that's come loose. We'll also tell you honestly when something can wait until tomorrow morning rather than charging you for a same-day slot.

  • Same-day appointments Monday–Saturday
  • 24/7 on-call dentist for registered patients
  • Phone triage so you know what to do before you arrive
  • Pain relief, antibiotics and follow-up plan in one visit
  • Children's dental emergencies seen as priority

What to expect, step by step

1

Call the practice

Call us first — even out of hours. We'll triage the problem, give you immediate first-aid advice, and book the next available slot.

2

Same-day appointment

Most emergencies are seen within 4 hours during opening hours. We'll diagnose with x-rays where needed and explain your options before doing anything.

3

Treatment to settle the issue

Whether it's a temporary filling, root canal, extraction or simply pain relief and antibiotics — we focus on getting you out of pain in one visit.

4

Follow-up plan

Once you're comfortable, we'll book a follow-up to do any longer-term work properly — never rushed, never under pressure.

FAQs

Common questions about this treatment

What counts as a dental emergency?

Anything causing severe pain, facial swelling, uncontrolled bleeding, or a knocked-out adult tooth is an emergency — call us immediately. A chipped tooth without pain, a lost filling, or a loose crown can usually wait until the next working day.

What should I do if a tooth is knocked out?

Time matters — ideally re-implant within 30 minutes. Pick the tooth up by the crown (not the root), rinse it gently in milk or saline (not water), and either pop it back in the socket or store it in milk. Then call us straight away.

Do you see non-registered patients in an emergency?

Yes — we keep slots open for new patients in pain. The 24/7 out-of-hours service is reserved for registered patients, but during opening hours we'll do everything we can to help anyone in genuine pain.

How do I reach the on-call dentist out of hours?

Registered patients have a dedicated emergency line that's answered 24/7. The on-call dentist will triage by phone and either give advice, prescribe over the phone via our pharmacy partner, or arrange to meet you at the practice.

Should I take painkillers before I come in?

Yes — ibuprofen 400mg and paracetamol 1g taken together (if you can take both) is more effective than either alone. Avoid aspirin if you're bleeding. Do not place painkillers directly onto the gum, this can cause chemical burns.
